Nature vs Man

Today, in the age of science, everything we see around us has been the result of the genius and creativity of man. Be it a television, telephone, a needle, or even a beautiful painting. Man created the wheel, and traveled great distances. He lit fire and won over the killing chill. He invented the ship and discovered new lands winning the battles with water. It has always been man’s greatest dream to surpass nature’s glory and he has been continuously succeeding in that.

Nature on the other hand has always been the best friend of man. The trees, the rivers and the lakes, the clouds, the flowers, the animals, all are the intricate and beautiful things created in the workshop of nature. The expert hands of god have designed them all. Man’s all needs, be it food, water, shelter or anything else, ultimately come from nature’s warehouse. Nature loves all of its creations but has special affection for human. It’s nature, which has always pampered man. Whenever he needs something, nature happily bears pain to fulfill his need. It lets man cut its trees when he needs wood; it allows man to kill an animal so that he can drape himself. So man should not boast of any of his creations being entirely his own as nature always played some role in its formation.

Man has never accepted it, and he never would. To win this never-ending war, he has been struggling all day and night. But it’s a strange war, in which one side has been using opponent’s resources to overpower him. Man cuts a tree to make an axe, which he uses to cut more trees. His no tool belongs entirely to him. Nature, like an innocent opponent has permitted him to thrash it. But man has always crossed its limits, it has always exploited the generosity offered to him by nature. When he can do by cutting a tree, he burns a whole jungle. When he needs only little meat to satisfy his hunger, he kills many more animals for his entertainment. In spite of having enough resources, he digs deep all over the place to get more. It’s his wild greed and hunger, which has always led him to cross the ethical limits, and he doesn’t even realize that.

But the nature has always been a patient competitor. Hasn’t it always waited for years, without showing slightest sign of fury, before turning around and hitting man with one dreadful blow? When man keeps on extending its limits, without giving any concern to its long term consequences, nature has risen and wielded its weapons, which are far more destructing and catastrophic than a nuclear bomb. It explodes its surface and spits all the fire in its stomach, or shakes its land to give man a swing that even his greatest buildings cannot withstand. It can suddenly raise its arms and drown the best ships built, or breathe its lungs out & toss everything in its way. Nature has always stood up like a hero who is on the verge of losing and suddenly gives one blow with all its might to win the battle. Man’s greatest endeavors have always been defeated by either the nature, or the man himself.

This endless war has groomed both the best and the most unsavory traits of mankind. It’s not only given him the meaning of life but has also made him go on relentlessly. It fired in him the urge to improve but has also put him on the path of self-destruction. So if humanity understands completely the rules of this war and abides by them it would be much more fruitful and enlightening.
